2025 Board of Directors Election & Nominees

The Advantage Credit Union Board of Directors is a volunteer board of ACU members who are in good standing, ages 18 and over. This year, there are three director positions open with three-year term commitments. Board nominations are now closed and voting has started.

NOTICE OF BALLOTING

Advantage Credit Union members may vote either in-person or electronically.  A member shall have one vote regardless of the number of shares held by the member.  Members shall be at least 16 years of age to vote. 

Electronically: Members may vote electronically by using our online banking (ItsMe247).  If you do not currently use online banking, please call or come into the credit union for further assistance setting up online banking.  Electronic voting will take place for a limited time from March 21, 2025, through April 20, 2025.  Go to www.acuiowa.orgExternal WebsiteExternal Website and select “Online Banking Login”. After you log in to your account in ItsMe247, you will find a banner on the left side of the screen to click on reading “Place Your Vote!   You may vote by checking the box next to the name of the candidates that you choose.  You are allowed to vote for no more than 3 candidates.  After making your selection, click below on “Record My Vote”.  Once you vote online, the “Place Your Vote” banner will no longer display on your ItsMe247 screen, and you will not be able to change your vote.  If you vote online, you will not be allowed to vote again at the annual meeting. 

In Person: If you do not vote electronically, you may still cast your vote in person at the annual meeting and election held at the American Legion, 1101 W 4th Street S, Newton, Iowa on April 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. 

 DIRECTOR NOMINEES:

 
 

Michelle Modlin: Michelle has been a member of Advantage for over 40 years. She is employed at the Newton Community School District where she has been a teacher since 2007, most recently as a fourth-grade teacher at Woodrow Wilson. A majority of Michelle’s community involvement has been through the school district as well as projects with her grown daughters, Marisa and Morgan. Red Pride runs deep in her household! She is a graduate of Newton High School and has been married to her high school sweetheart, Mark, for 40 years. She holds an M.S.E. in Effective Teaching from Drake University. Michelle has a passion for education and continuing to serve on the ACU board allows her the opportunity to have a voice in the way ACU empowers members through guidance and assistance with their financial needs. She currently sits on the credit committee and enjoys learning new things and helping members achieve financial success.

 
 

Joel Bucklin: Joel has been a member of Advantage for 13 years. He is president of his company, Joel T. Bucklin, Inc, where has been selling Snap-On tools for over 30 years. Joel volunteers at Discover Hope and is the director of the white truck missions with Haven Vineyard Church. He and his wife Dee have been married for over 44 years and have two grown sons and two granddaughters. Joel is currently vice-chair of the ACU board of directors and believes his management skills running a business for the past 30 years aid him serving on the board and gives him the ability to look at both sides of issues.

 
 

Tim Saunders: Tim has been a member of the Advantage since 1987. He has been employed at the Newton Community School District for 16 years and is currently an educational associate. He has his associate’s degree in business administration from DMACC. Tim has been married for 40 years, has two children, one son and one daughter and five grandchildren. He has lived in Newton all his life and enjoys dirt track racing, camping, fishing, and the Iowa State Fair. He is currently serving on the ACU board and is very skilled at reading and understanding financial statements. He would like to continue to serve on the board and help shape the future of the credit union.
